About

The following details my journey as a financial professional into the field of child development. Common threads between my careers are a deep understanding of client’s values and perspectives in conjunction with data-driven research to implement useful, evidence-based strategies. In financial sales, this manifested as a collaboration with advisors on business practice management to reach their goals. In child development strategy, it means finding connections and deep understanding as well as providing meaningful resources and strategies for both parent and child.

With a undergraduate degree in Child Development and Family Studies and a Master of Science in Education with a Dual Certification in Early Childhood Special and General Education, I’ve worked with children and families as they grow, develop and face challenges. Relevant Board positions include time spent on the Board of Children of Bellevue and a current Board seat at the Madison Montessori School. In addition to the aforementioned degrees I hold certificates of completion in Mindfulness Fundamentals and Mindful Educator Essentials from the Mindful Schools, qualifications to teach 16 week Mindfulness Courses for K-5th grade. Additional experience includes curriculum development for early childhood programs for an independent preschool’s early childhood program.

In my role as a financial service professional for over 12 years, I garnered experience servicing retail and institutional clients. I successfully developed my territories from the ground up by utilizing what I consider to be my unique abilities: knowledge of financial products, passion for excellence, strong presentation skills and solid organizational skills.

I incorporated business practice management techniques from courses I have completed such as: Strategic Coach, Mission Control, Sequoia, Fusion and others. From an internal standpoint, I have been noted in all roles as a team player, coach and mentor specifically for a contagious positive attitude, willingness to share and again strong organizational skills.

The purpose of the blog is three fold:

  • To share insight as I research and study of child development and early childhood education.
  • To aggregate information from well-respected organizations, websites, publications and periodicals on raising happy, healthy and successful preschoolers.
  • To document my transition from the world of finance to the world of early childhood education.
